What I can help with

A straightforward service
for rural pest problems.

Every property is different. Tell me what you're experiencing and I'll consider whether a shooting-based approach is appropriate for the location, species and circumstances.

01 /

Rabbits

Enquiries about rabbit damage affecting fields, paddocks, grazing areas and other suitable rural land.

02 /

Rats

Rat problems around suitable outdoor farm and rural locations, assessed individually.

03 /

Grey squirrels

Where grey squirrels are causing a genuine problem and the location allows appropriate, lawful control.

04 /

Wood pigeons

Crop or agricultural damage enquiries only where the relevant wildlife licensing conditions can be met.

05 /

Corvids: crows & magpies

Species-specific enquiries, considered only for a permitted purpose and where all applicable Natural England licence requirements are satisfied.

Important: This is voluntary air-rifle shooting, not a general extermination or emergency response service. Shooting depends on permission, safe and suitable land, humane practice, relevant wildlife licences and applicable law.

How I work

Discreet, selective and considerate.

A straightforward air-rifle approach, with animal welfare, site safety and respect for the countryside at the centre of every decision.

01

Quiet & discreet

Air-rifle shooting is generally quieter than shotgun shooting. I aim to minimise disruption to residents, livestock and day-to-day activity on the land, although it is not silent.

02

Selective & welfare-conscious

Only lawful target species and suitable, safe shooting opportunities are considered. I aim for a quick, humane outcome and avoid taking a shot when conditions are unsuitable.

03

No poison baits

This is an air-rifle-based approach, without chemical rodenticide baits. It avoids introducing those poisons to the site and reduces that particular risk to non-target animals and the food chain.

A realistic environmental approach: No shooting method is entirely without risk. Appropriate ammunition choice, safe shooting locations and responsible treatment of shot animals matter, particularly where livestock or other wildlife may be present.

A careful, common-sense approach

First understand the problem.
Then decide what's appropriate.

Each enquiry is considered individually. My assistance is voluntary and recreational, not a contracted pest-control service. Shooting only takes place where permission, site safety, welfare and applicable law allow it.

Step 01

Tell me what's happening

Get in touch with the pest species, the approximate location and a few details of the problem.

Step 02

Agree permission & boundaries

If a visit is suitable, the person entitled to grant shooting rights provides permission, ideally in writing with clear dates and marked shooting boundaries.

Step 03

Arrange a suitable visit

Visits are arranged by mutual agreement and depend on my availability. There is no charge, duty to attend or promise of a particular result.

Permission and peace of mind

Voluntary assistance.
Clear boundaries.

Before any shooting takes place, I need permission from the person entitled to authorise shooting on that land. I prefer a simple written permission form with agreed dates and a marked plan of the permitted area and any exclusions.

The form records permission to shoot; it does not require anyone to engage me to carry out a service, and it does not oblige me to attend or achieve a result.

CCC3 recreational insurance

I hold Country Cover Club (CCC3) membership insurance. CCC3 has confirmed that my membership covers recreational air-rifle pest control, including shooting on land owned by others with their permission, subject to the policy terms.

I offer free, voluntary assistance only. I do not enter into contracts imposing a duty to provide pest-control services. Any permitted shooting remains subject to safety, legal requirements and the agreed shooting area.

Local coverage

Calverton first.
Nearby villages too.

I'm based around Calverton in Nottinghamshire and generally consider enquiries within approximately a 15-mile radius. Not sure if your land is covered? You're welcome to ask.

Good to know

Questions you might have.

A few straightforward answers before you make an enquiry.

Are you insured for this activity?

Yes, for the recreational activity described here, subject to the policy terms. Country Cover Club (CCC3) has confirmed cover for recreational pest control using an air rifle on another person's land with their permission. I do not offer contracted pest-control services.

Do I need to sign a pest-control contract?

No. This is free, voluntary assistance rather than a contracted service. If we proceed, I will ask for permission to shoot from the person authorised to grant it, preferably with written dates and a map of the agreed boundaries. That records permission, not a promise to carry out work.

Is the pest-control service really free?

Yes. I don't charge for enquiries, visits or the shooting-based pest-control service. This is a personal, local service offered by arrangement rather than a commercial pest-control company.

Do you cover my village?

I generally consider locations within approximately 15 miles of Calverton, Nottinghamshire. If you're nearby but unsure, email your village or approximate location and I'll let you know.

Can you visit any property?

No. The location must be suitable for the proposed activity, with clear permission from the person entitled to give it. Site safety, neighbouring areas, the presence of people or animals, and the law all matter.

Can all pigeons, crows and magpies be controlled?

No. Wild birds are legally protected in England. Any control must meet the relevant species-specific general or individual licence requirements and permitted purpose; a bird being inconvenient does not by itself authorise shooting.

Do you offer a same-day or emergency call-out?

No emergency service is advertised. I arrange visits by appointment, subject to availability and the suitability of the enquiry.

Will shooting disturb livestock or other wildlife?

I aim to work quietly and discreetly, choosing appropriate locations and times and avoiding shots where people, livestock or non-target wildlife may be at risk. No method can guarantee zero disturbance, so each site is assessed individually.

Do you use poison or chemical pest-control baits?

No. This is an air-rifle-based service, not a chemical baiting service. Avoiding rodenticides reduces the risk of secondary poisoning from those baits. I do not claim that shooting has zero environmental impact; pellet choice and responsible handling remain important.
